The sun is shining, I biked to work in 27 minutes and 51 seconds (a record), the typewriter lady has been in McPherson Square since 9AM and I only have to work a half day. At 12:01PM I’ll be out the door and on my way to Frederick, MD to spend the night with some family. That will be 5 cousins, 1 aunt, 1 Jewish grandmother, 3 kids and 3 dogs in one household for 36 hours. It should be very exciting.
The first night of kickball was a great success. I know it is super nerdy to be in an adult kickball league, but we feel it is made dignified by it’s location, as we play in clear view of our Nation’s Capitol. We won 5-3 and learned that I am also largely uncoachable. When people tell me to do something like run!— I stop, turn and say, “I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you properly.”
Kickball is also followed by a trip to the bar— flip cup, beer pong and binge drinking are moderately encouraged. A couple pitchers of cheap beer on an empty stomach, some rounds of flip cup and competition does not make for a socially conscious Rachel.
Hillary: Hi, I’m Hillary.
Me: I’m going to call you Clinton.
After boy gets in my personal space—
Me: Dude, you are all up in my grill.
Boy about 3 hours and 149 games of flip cups later: Hey, you’re the girl who told me to get out of your grill. It ain’t like I’m BBQing or anything.
Me: I said that out loud, huh?
Have a great weekend, y’all. And check me out today on Rachel Machacek’s blog.
